Humble Beginnings
Rooted in Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Insalaco family evolved from their agricultural origins into commercial real estate leaders through the strategic growth of Insalaco's Supermarkets. What began as a small produce market in 1947 expanded into a 14-location regional chain employing over 1,700 people.
After 46 years of successful operations, the supermarket division was sold in 1993 to Penn Traffic allowing the family to diversify their portfolio and open the door for new opportunities.
Continued Success
In the early 1990's, The Insalaco family's real estate development journey reached a major milestone with the creation of The Crossings Factory Stores, now known as Pocono Premium Outlets. Encompassing more than 390,000 square feet and over 120 retail stores, the project showcased the family's vision and development expertise on a much larger scale.
As one of the nation's most successful independently developed outlet centers, The Crossings opened new opportunities for the Insalaco family throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.
In June 2003, the development was sold to Chelsea Property Group for $111.3 million, marking the successful culmination of one of the family's most significant real estate achievements.
Evolving and Expanding
Building on the momentum of previous decades, the Insalaco family continued to expand its commercial real estate portfolio through strategic investments and acquisitions. Over time, the portfolio grew to encompass millions of square feet of retail, office, medical, and industrial properties.
By combining long-term investment expertise with hands-on property management, the family developed a deep understanding of asset operations and tenant needs. This integrated approach allowed the team to maximize property performance while delivering an exceptional experience for tenants across its portfolio.

Looking Ahead
Today, three generations later, the Insalaco family continues to build on its legacy under the leadership of Sandy Insalaco Jr. Joined by his two children, Santo Insalaco III and Julia Insalaco Marchese, the family remains committed to the values that have defined its success for decades.
Looking toward the future, the third generation is expanding the family's reach by growing its professional property management services, bringing generations of real estate expertise and experience to property owners throughout the region.
